25A - What's Next?
Existing Market
1. What’s next for me in terms of services for my venture is to create an app for my business. It would be used as a sort of 911 service where people can contact Paws of Love and pin their location to where an animal in need may be along with instructions on how to help and/or engage with the animal on sight. It can also be used to request for Paws of Love to come to your house if your pet is in need of assistance and you cannot leave.
2. Interviewees:
· Krystal – Krystal thinks that making a YouTube channel would be very beneficial to my cause. She thinks that’s it’s a quick and easy platform that could be used to reach more people. She thinks my idea of the app is cool since a lot of people use technology all the time and its more convenient than having to physically go somewhere to get the help you need.
· Daniel – Daniel thought that making a website would be very useful towards the success of my company because he thinks that all successful people should have a website in order to seem official and learn more about it. He really liked the idea of making an app since nowadays people are always on their phones so people can easily use access it.
· Irene – Irene thinks that the company could host events to help raise brand awareness. She thinks that the more people that come the more people will get involved and tell other about it which would help the business grow. She thinks the app is cool but she feels that only people who use their phones frequently would be able to use it but that older people who don’t have cellphones would not have much access to it. And that for those that do have phones it should be very user friendly.
3. I believe the most important thing for moving forward with this venture is building brand awareness. Since my venture may become a non-profit, I need to find a lot of support from potential sponsors as well as the local community. In order to accomplish this, I need to establish a strong online presence by using social media and the internet to my advantage.
By creating a YouTube channel per Krystal’s suggestion, I can show people exactly what Paws of Love does. We could film rescues and the entire rehabilitation process up until release or adoption so that people can follow the animal’s journey. By creating a website, I could have information about the company and how to contact us readily available to internet users. Using the website and social media would also be helpful in spreading the word about events we may host so that people can attend.
I received overall positive feedback on my app idea and believe that I would want to go through with creating it. I would make sure that it is user friendly so that anyone of any level of experience with a smartphone can easily use it. I believe it would greatly benefit my company.
New Market:
1. A market that I could target that is radically different from who I am currently targeting would be veterinarians. As an organization that aims to help animals that may be sick or injured, I would need to proper team to help treat them.
2. If I have a loyalty contract with a local vet, whenever people come to Paws of Love for help they can show consumers how great their service is and become interested in going to them in the future. This will help them bring awareness and business to their own company while helping mine as well.
3. Interviewees:
· Dr. Alonso – Dr. Alonso thinks that it is great that there are people out there that want to help animals and not just for making money. Since I’m in the business that rescues animals, he knows that I would need the medical help and resources to help treat them. He says that there are many vets out there that would want to help these kinds of organizations. He believes that I should reach out personally to local vets in the area to see if they would want to get involved as well as hold events where I can meet others vets so that I can show them what my company is all about.
· Dr. Hernandez – Dr. Hernandez believes that my business is an interesting idea since I am also open to helping wild animals since not many other organizations do that. He thinks that I should try to network as much as I can like making phone calls so that I can get my idea out there and reach more people. He said that I should make ads specifically targeted towards finding other vets to get involved in order for them to find out about the company and that opportunities I would offer them.
4. I learned that vets would be potentially interested in agreeing to partner up with my business in order to medically help any animals in need. I was surprised that they would agree to getting involved with the scare that they would disagree since it might affect their own business. They seemed very supportive of my idea.
I expected them to not be as willing to participate in this kind of business since it would be hard to work in two places and they might feel like they are losing customers if they came to my organization instead. However, they feel like this would be a great way to showcase how great the vets are and come to them regularly when they don’t need emergency care at Paws of Love.
After listening to everything they had to say, I do believe that this would be an attractive market but not as attractive as my existing market. Ultimately I think that my business would flourish more from those that would voluntarily seek this kind of organization to get involved because they share the same views and want to make a difference in animal rights and care.

ReplyDeleteYour post is very strong and recognizes many ways to exploit your existing market and possibly enter a new market. I think you are on the right track with needing to create brand awareness, and youtube is on the right track. Video marketing with animals is a great way to increase brand awareness to help your business flourish. I can see both of our ideas being successful and making a difference within our community if we have a strong brand identity.

ReplyDeleteThis was a really well well thought-out post and really shows the efforts you are putting in to your idea. I have to agree with your interviewees, the best way to spread the news about your service is to build yourself a brand name and a good reputation. I really like the idea of hosting events to create awareness of your brand as not only are you getting your name out there, but you're also creating a positive association with your service by helping the community. Reputation is key in the business world and after reading your post I've realized I need to dedicate efforts into raising my own brand awareness and reputation.

ReplyDeleteTargeting vets would be a great idea since not only are they passionate about helping animals but they will also be right by your side with your organization. All the vets that I've personally met are very passionate about their job and truly want to help the animals. This new market is a great idea! Also, youtube would be a smart way for you to send out your message about your nonprofit. As long as its a well constructed video, this will help reduce advertising costs elsewhere since this is a free method to reach out to your potential audience.
