27A - Reading Reflection No. 3
Steve Jobs, By: Walter Isaacson
1)
- What surprised me the most about Jobs was that one of the influencing factors towards naming the company "Apple" was the fact that he was on an apple farm the same day he had to decide.
- What I most admire about Jobs is his RDF or reality distortion field. Whatever he imagined or wanted to happen, he made it happen no matter what to the point where people thought he was bending reality. Its amazing how influential he was and how hard he worked for his vision.
- What I least admire about Jobs is the addiction he had with LSD. I'm not an advocate for using drugs even though this was his decision and his lifestyle at the time.
- Jobs faced failure when he got fired from his own company. He was able to move on from by working at other companies where he continued to succeed which were NeXT and Pixar.
3) What was most confusing to me is why Jobs was so obsessed with trying different kinds of diets during high school.
4) First question: Are you happy with how Apple has evolved since your passing?
Second question: Is there anything you would change about Apple with the way it is now?
5) I believe that Jobs thought that hard work was doing everything humanly possible to accomplish a goal or vision no matter how impossible it seemed. I agree with him and think that if you really believe an idea like he did, you really should try to do whatever it takes to reach it.
Hey Isabella,
ReplyDeleteThe questions you created to ask Steve Jobs are really good. I would also be curious to ask him what he thinks about the progress of Apple since his passing. If I had to guess I think he would be decently happy about the way the organization continues to evolve. Your reading seemed very interesting and it look like you learned a lot from it. Great work!

Great job on your reading reflection! I'm now tempted to read this book as well since I admire Steve Jobs deeply. He's a legend who brought innovation to Apple. Without Jobs, Apple would not be where they are currently. For the first question that you asked, I'm sure Jobs would reply in such a way of disagreement, yet having admiration. When Jobs was alive, he didn't want screen sizes for the iPhone's to be different, it was only after his passing when Apple created phones like iPhone 7+, etc.
ReplyDeleteHey Isabella,
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your post! Steve Jobs led a very interesting life and I was almost tempted to choose this book for my reflection. You included a lot of interesting facts in your post, like I did not know Jobs had a drug addiction. I think Steve Jobs would be satisfied with how Apple is performing since his passing, however I'm sure there would be some things he would like tweaked. Steve Jobs was definitely a huge innovator in his field and his products have changed how a lot of people live their lives.
