6A - Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends
Economic:
b) I believe that
since housing has become more affordable, the opportunity exists that people
who have their dream of purchasing a home with their significant other to start
a family is now more attainable.
c) The
prototypical customer is someone who dreams of starting a family and having the
right place to do it.
d) I think the
opportunity is relatively easy to exploit for housing construction companies as
well as real estate businesses because most people who live or come to the
United States have the “American Dream” to buy a home and start a family.
I came to form
this belief due to the fact that I am a very family oriented person and I one-day
also hope to purchase a house to start my own family.
b) I believe that
since electricity and natural gas prices are low and people have an increased
amount of disposable income, the opportunity exists for people to spend more on
other things.
c) The
prototypical customer are shopaholics.
d) I think the
opportunity is relatively easy to exploit because once someone has that kind of
disposable income, the ability to purchase things you may not have otherwise
been able to becomes available. Therefore, local businesses can increase prices
to their products and services because consumers will still be willing to
purchase or use them due to the increase in their disposable income.
I came to form
this belief due to the fact that I consider myself to be a shopaholic. If given
this kind of disposable income, I would want to splurge it on whatever I wanted
to purchase.
Regulatory:
b) I believe that
since the US government is now focusing on fossil fuels and nuclear energy,
this provides an opportunity for local clean energy businesses in the US to
have a competitive advantage. This is due to the shifted focus of the
government which allows the local clean energy companies to gain more customers
who prefer using eco-friendly methods to use energy.
c) The prototypical
customer is a US citizen who wants to use clean energy as opposed to fossil
fuels and nuclear energy.
d) I think the
opportunity is moderately difficult to exploit since a lot of citizens like to
follow what the government promotes so it would be hard to transition many people
to a new kind of energy source.
I came to form this
belief because I have been an advocate for doing what’s best for the environment
and I believe that switching to clean energy will ultimately be the best for
our planet.

b) I believe that
connecting medical devices to the internet will ultimately help more by providing
faster and more efficient ways to treat patients as well as help hospitals and
doctors save more lives.
c) The
prototypical customers are hospitals that will purchase these devices that in
turn will be given to patients.
d) I think the
opportunity is relatively easy to exploit since we continue to become very
technologically advanced and we are always looking for new ways to help people’s
health and save more lives.
I came to form
this belief because I am a strong believer in medicine and technology and
believe that combining the two will ultimately be of benefit to the human race.
