24A - Venture Concept No. 1
Opportunity:
My opportunity is for animals, both
domestic and wild, who need help towards their wellbeing whether it be an
injury, sickness, finding a new home, or being released back to where they
belong. My opportunity also works towards finding more justice for animal abuse
by getting the government to make more regulations.
Forces that create this opportunity
are people who abuse animals which one of the reasons why my kind or organization
would need to exist. Another force that creates this opportunity is the government
with their insufficient legislation towards animal rights.
Geographically, this market would
start out locally here in Miami. After it become more successful and expansion
is possible, it would geographically grow to multiple parts of the United
States.
Demographically, this market is
anyone who cares and wants to help animals no matter the age, sex, or race.
What’s important is their beliefs and the actions they intend to take to stand
by those beliefs.
Customers who have pets are able to
go to vets in order to treat them for medical reasons. If pets are lost, they
are either taken to the pound or are found by other rescue groups if they are
lucky. Wild animals pretty much have no help if they have any problems such as
injuries.
My opportunity is very big since
everyday there are stray animals that roam the streets, helpless ones that are
being abused at home, and wild animals that are at the mercy of mother nature
or humans if found. There are many people like me who are out there that would
to help this cause and take part in this opportunity.
The “window of opportunity” will
always be open since there will always be people in this world who mistreat
animals and I will be there to hopefully stop them. I’ll stop as many as I can
for as long as I can.
Innovation:
Many animal rescue groups already exist. However, what’s
innovative about mine is that I also help wild animals and I want to appeal to
the government to make changes for animal rights. Not many animal groups
typically also target wild animals since most of them focus only on domestic
one. I care about all the animals of the world and believe that none of them
deserve to be mistreated and all deserve the right to help. For that reason, I
wanted to make it all inclusive. The government is something that I want my
company to also focus on since there truly isn’t enough legislation on animal
rights and the ones that exist are not as effective since animal abuse
continues to occur. We need change and this issue needs to not be taken
lightly. My business idea may potentially become a non-profit instead so the
way that I would make money would be through sponsors who would like to fund
the business as well as through donations from the general public.
Venture Concept:
My business idea, Paws of Love,
will do many things in order to address my opportunity. We will rescue any
domestic or wild animal that needs help whether it be from sickness, injuries,
or abuse. Once a wild animal has rehabilitated, it will be released back into
the wild where it is best suited to survive. Domestic animals that no longer
have homes will be put up for adoption. Anyone who has a pet is also welcome to
come for assistance if they need any help. We will also help bring more awareness
to the government on animal abuse and demand new and effective legislation to
help the cause. We will accomplish this through petitions, peaceful events and
protests, as well as bringing cases we come across to their attention.
My service is not a new concept since
other rescue groups exist however, mine is unique since it also caters to wild
animals and it is actively fighting for animal rights as well. I believe these
innovative uncommon features would bring many customers to my organization.
As I mentioned before, there are
other rescue groups that exist as my competitors but I believe their weakness
is that they limit themselves to domestic animals. Since my idea also involves catering
to wild animals, this would be a competitive advantage I have over them as well
as my active fight for animal rights.
The role of the business location does help
define my business concept. I would want my business to be located in the
proximity of a full vet. Although I will have vets on sight at Paws of Love, if
the condition of the animal is more serious and requires additional help or
resources I want to be able to have access to somewhere they can go to as
quickly as possible. Time is of the essence when it comes to medical
emergencies no matter if they are animals or humans.
If my business becomes a
non-profit, all of my “employees” would be volunteers. Anyone who is willing to
lend a helping hand would be welcome to come work at my business. I would need
at least 10 people per location. The roles in this venture would be a
receptionist, animal handlers, animal rescuers, and vets.
Three Minor Elements:
1. My most important resource will be
volunteers. Although I have big dreams for this cause, I am only one person. If
I can inspire people to get involved, then I will start having the numbers
needed to bring about change. What I will have that will make it hard for
competitors to copy is the passion and drive to help not only domestic animals
but also wild animals alike.
2. My next venture would be to create an
app for people to easily access in order to pin locations for animals that need
help. It will also have instructions on what to do depending on the situation and
what kind of animals it is.
3. In five years I want to have expanded
my business across at least 10 other locations across Florida and be in the works
to start expanding to other states. As an entrepreneur in the next decade, I
hope that my venture has become very successful in accomplishing its mission
and that the government has made new legislation that has finally given animals
the rights that they deserve. This first venture would be ground breaking, if
successful, in achieving my vision of a world where more people respect animals
and that animal abuse is eradicated.
Hey Isabella,
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your post, I am able to realize the distinction of your organization as compared to other animal shelters. I think it is great that you are also helping wild animals. Although this may pose more of a risk, I think it is important to help all animals and bring about change. Moving forward I think you should continue to look for other people who will volunteer and get involved with your organization.
Hi Isabella!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your venture concept! I believe your nonprofit will be a success since you have more of a wide range of objectives compared to a normal animal shelter. It's great to see that you're targeting both wild and domestic animals, since they both need our help (wild animals especially since these are the ones that are more deemed for extinction). Once this business is up and running, if you keep bugging the government I'm sure they would help increase the rights of animals. Keep it up!
