23A - Your Venture's Unfair Advantage
1.
Passion for animals:
·
V - It’s
always a valuable asset to be passionate about what you are doing. It helps
bring joy to your actions and the effort you put into it will always be 100
percent.
·
R - Not everyone is passionate about what they
are doing. Sometimes you just have to do what you can to get by. It’s lucky to
find something that you enjoy while being successful.
·
I - Not everyone loves animals as much as I do.
A lot of people just don’t like animals at all. I think that it’s hard to find
a lot people nowadays that are as compassionate towards animals enough to take
action to help them.
·
N - There’s no substitution for passion. You
either have your whole heart into something or you don’t.
2.
Organization:
·
V - In order to keep your business in order it
is always important to be organized in order to keep everything in check and
prevent disasters that can occur. This will always make your work easier and
more manageable as well.
·
R - Not everyone is very neat and organized so
this is a great skill to have.
·
I - Some people may try to be more organized but
if they are not naturally, it may be hard to keep consistency.
·
N - There is no substitution for being
organized. You’re either naturally neat or messy even though you can improve if
you choose to do so.
3.
Approachable:
·
V - If you are part of a business or
organization it is important to be approachable in order to gain connections
and attract consumers.
·
R - Not everyone is may seem friendly at first
glance so it may not be something that you can find in everyone as a first
impression.
·
I - Some people
may try to act friendly and may just come across as pushy or fake. It is a
skill you either naturally have or have to work on.
·
N - There
are no alternatives to a warm and approachable welcome compared to how other
approaches make you feel.
4.
Business Major:
·
V - As a business major, I’m learning many
important and valuable skills that I could use to help make my business
successful.
·
R - It’s not very rare to find a business major
but what’s rare is what you do with the skills you have attained.
·
I – A lot of people can get the same business
degree as me since it is open to anyone who qualifies and completes the
requirements.
·
N - The business degree cannot be replaced with
some other degree that would gave you the same knowledge and skills.
5.
Potential supplier ready:
·
V - Every business needs its resources. With the
connection I’ve just made with Anthony from Petco, I can have supplies at hand
relatively quickly and always near for my business once it starts.
·
R - This connection is rare to find so fast
especially since the business has not even been created yet so this is a big
advantage.
·
I - Other
pet supplies stores could give me the same products but the deal they offer me
may be different however.
·
N - Some products may have substitutes but
others may only be sold exclusively through Petco.
6.
Potential employees ready:
·
V - Having employees readily available will help
speed up the process of opening the business. This would be possible with the
connection I made with Samantha from Helping Hands.
·
R - This connection is not something many people
are able to find right off the bat when starting a business and will be very beneficial.
·
I - Not everyone is able to find potential employees
through a connection they just made like how I have.
·
N - There are substitutes to finding employees
by putting ads out for people to see and receive applicants.
7.
Human resource skills:
·
V - Human resources are an essential part to
every business in order to make sure that the work environment is well as well
as the relationship with its consumers. I have attained these skills from my
internship this summer.
·
R - There are other people who have human resource
skills so it is not an uncommon thing.
·
I - Many people can imitate the same skills that
are necessary for human resources but whether they are successful is another
case.
·
N - There are no other substitutes for skills
specific to human resources.
8.
Determination and strong will:
·
V - If someone who owns a business does not have
determination, they may easily fail if they do not fight for what they have
created when times get difficult.
·
R - There are others who may be just as
determined as I am to get some justice for this cause.
·
I - Not one can really imitate determination.
You either have the strong will or you do not.
·
N - There is no substitute for determination.
9.
Experienced with social media:
·
V - Nowadays, everything is online or on social
media. For a business to succeed, having experience on these platforms and how
to use them effectively will be a great advantage.
·
R - Although a lot of people may know how to use
social media, they may not know how to use it effectively for a business.
·
I - No one can imitate having experience with
social media since everyone is different with how much they know about it and
their style about going about using it.
·
N - Substitutes for social media awareness would
be to create ads in print, on television, or on billboards.
10. Experienced
with Photoshop:
·
V - Knowing how to use Photoshop can help you
make great graphics that can be used in social media, ads, and the company’s
logo.
·
R - A lot of people can learn how to use Photoshop
and use it so it is not uncommon.
·
I - Other people could use Photoshop like me but
would not be able to copy my creative ideas especially if I have a patent on
for example, the logo.
·
N - There are other programs that can be used
that would do the same as Photoshop. I could also hire someone solely because
of their own Photoshop experience instead of doing it on my own.
I believe that my most important venture is my passion. If
you don’t have passion for what you are doing I think that that will just make
you unhappy and it will also reflect on how hard you work and how you perform.
I’m glad that I’m able to create a business idea in which I am so passionate
about and which brings me joy. It makes the idea of going to work fun and worth
it. I would get to enjoy what I am doing while also making a difference in a
cause I stand strongly by.
Hey Isabella,
ReplyDeleteYour post was very deep and helped me truly connect with your business and my own. Passion is such an important aspect of everything you do in life. For that reason, I agree that passion is very important to the success of your business. We both seem to have passion and so I believe both of our business ideas will be successful and help the industry we are entering. Great work!

Hey Isabella,
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome how you were able to center an entrepreneurship idea around something that you sound very passionate about. Like you said, having a passion for the business you're in will result in better results and an overall enriching experience. Passion was an advantage that I didn't think about, but like yourself I realize my business venture is partly fueled by passion.

Hi Isabella! I agree with you saying how your most important asset is your passion. Passion is everything... without it you would go nowhere in life. Having suppliers is an easy factor for your business since many would want to help toward your animal protection services. As far as potential employees go, I do agree with sending out applications like you talked about.. but also maybe try to find vets that will work for you once your nonprofit is up and running? They would be near the core of your business with protecting animals.
