21A - Reading Reflection No. 2
The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users
By: Guy Kawasaki
1) The general theme of the book is to give tips and advice to the reader on how to use social media effectively in order to get the greatest advantage from it.
2) In ENT3003 we had to create a business. A big part of a business's success nowadays is being able to reach out to your market and be able to advertise it to potential consumers as well. This is the benefit that social media can bring if known how to use it correctly.
3) An exercise I would create for this class based on the book I read is to create your own social media account of your preference and use the tips given in the book in order to see effective they are. At the end of the class you can see how successful you were in making your social presence grow or not.
4) My 'aha' moment was when I read about how to respond to comments. I've always felt that we should always try to respond to a comment especially if its negative in order to take responsibility. However, Kawasaki says that I shouldn't feel morally obligated to respond to negative comments particularly if they are from spammers or trolls.
Hi Isabella!
ReplyDeleteJob well done on your reading reflection! This book sounds like a great read and is something that I would definitely be interested in. Having a greater understanding of how to use social media effectively in order to get the greatest advantage from it can both save a lot of time as well as actually being able to promote your business idea properly if so. I like how Kawasaki says how you shouldn't feel morally obligated to respond to negative comments. I always would retaliate in situations as such but I feel like if I just keep my cool and don't care what others say or think, it'd benefit me in the long run.
