2A - Bug List

  1. When I have to repeat myself after explaining something long and complicated Why? Sometimes I'm explaining something in the best way that I know I could have and it can take me a long time but in the end if the person didn't understand I get frustrated and think there's no way I could explain that again as perfectly as I did.
  2. Inefficient and unfair system with purchasing tickets on AXS website Why? The other day I waited on a website to get concert tickets that I REALLY wanted and the website placed me in a line to wait my turn. Once it was my turn it showed me that no tickets were left. What was the point of keeping me in the line then? That was very unfair and just cruel to wait for nothing.
  3. The traffic in Miami during morning and afternoon rush hours Why? I know traffic during rush hour is supposed to be bad, but it is ESPECIALLY bad here in Miami. I will never comprehend how that many cars could be out on the expressway at the same time. A 30 minute drive turns into an hour drive.
  4. Making long lines to see an advisor for simple questions Why? I know I can't be the only one who dreads this especially if its for simple fast questions. We are told we can't get these questions answered over email but must then wait hours to speak with an advisor. We are too many students there should be more advisors or a more efficient system depending on students' questions.
  5. When people are afraid to experience things from different cultures Why? For the past few years I have been into many things that are from asian countries such as anime or Kpop but I'm always too shy to share it since so many people are quick to judge what they don't know much about or think that the language barrier is a huge factor when subtitles exist. These are two things that I think are wonderful and that I enjoy that I think people should at least give a chance before they make their final opinions.
  6. When people make last minute plans and expect you to still be able to make it on such short notice Why? I don't like to rush especially when I'm going out because I like to make sure I can get ready and make sure everything is in order. I get that spontaneous things do happen but I'd much prefer something that is planned out in advance so that I can plan accordingly.
  7. When people interrupt me while I'm talking which makes me forget my train of thought Why? I'm the kind of person who tends to talk a lot and sometimes I'll get into a topic in which people might interrupt me which sets us off on a tangent. I end up forgetting what point I wanted to make or where I even left off in general which is very frustrating.
  8. When people don't know how to drive correctly on the road Why? I suffer from extreme road rage. I can't count how many scares I have had as a driver because people do things like cut you off in a tight spot, brake for no reason, take red lights or stop signs etc. It is dangerous and it infuriates me that people do these things knowing very well one of these things could cost someone's life.
  9. When someone interrupts me when I'm really deep into watch a show, movie, or playing a game Why? When I'm watching a really good tv show, movie, or playing a game, I am completely focused on it and like to fully immerse myself emotionally so all of that gets disrupted if someone comes into my room which makes me pause both what I'm doing and what I am feeling.
  10. When I'm lied to about anything Why? I am a very honest person who will always tell the truth even it may hurt myself or the person. If I am being truthful with you I expect for you to be truthful with me. I don't want to hear rumors later on when I find out someone has told me lies.
  11. When people pressure me to drink or keep asking me if I'm going to at parties Why? I have never been the party animal type but I do like to go out everyone once in a while. Even though I am 21 now, I've never had a burning urge or need to drink. And even the few drinks I have tried don't even taste good to me. I don't think anyone should ever pressure anyone to do something they don't want to do.
  12. When people tell me that I'm too uptight when that's just my personality Why? I am the kind of person who's very cautious, likes to follow the rules, and doesn't really take many risks that could possibly put me or someone else in danger. That's just the kind of person I am and I'm not going to change. I don't expect other to change because that's just how they are so they should respect how I am.
  13. When people think I'm not fun just because I would rather do things that are not dangerous or do not involve alcohol Why? Since I am young and in college a lot of the "fun" during these years comes from taking risks and drinking. I've never really been a fan of drinking and I find other simple activities like board games, karaoke, bowling, watching movies, etc. to be just as fun. Some people think otherwise and I respect that but don't call me a party pooper just because my fun is different from yours.
  14. When people think I'm too obsessed with Disney or Kpop Why? These are my top two greatest passions in life. I know a lot about each which may be scary to some people but that's to be expected of people with their passions. Everyone knows everything about what they most like. So I don't like when people take this into a negative context because these are two of the things that bring me the most happiness.
  15. Not knowing what I'm going to do with myself in the future career wise Why? Since I was young I've never really known what career I want to pursue. It has been an ongoing struggle of mine and the uncertainty of it scares and frustrates me.
  16. When other people get away with cheating in school Why? Cheating has always existed in school and it is something that I have always looked down upon. And I constantly hear stories of how others get away with it while others are actually working hard and putting the time. How do people still get away with it?
  17. When there are products that are in high demand but the inventory is not replenished enough Why? If there is a high demand for a product that I want and it is still sold out, I do not understand why. If the demand is there, they can invest in making more of the product because a guaranteed profit will be made and I, the customer, will be very happy to finally obtain the product. But do companies do this? No they don't.
  18. Terrible roommate matching in my apartment Why? I've had so many issues with a roommate that was assigned to me for just the month that she was there that I had nothing in common with and who brought so many problems to the point that the police had to be involved. How did the apartment complex not place me with someone who is more compatible with me and without all these other issues (which would take long to address) that caused problems for my safety? Apartment complexed need to do better jobs at matching people.
  19. Figuring out what to eat when I'm a picky eater Why? Ever since I was little I was a picky eater. There are many things I don't eat so I end up always eating the same few things that I do. I get tired of this but I can't do much since I am so picky. I wish I was born with tastebuds that liked every kind of food so I wouldn't have to go through with these kinds or problems.
  20. When people judge me for just being me Why? Everyone has their own personality, beliefs, values, and morals. You should not judge someone for just being themselves because of how they grew up and their own life experiences which have helped shape who they are. You are who you are. If you want someone to respect you then you must respect them back. So don't tell me to change. We all have our flaws and no one is perfect.
I did find it difficult to find 20 things that bug me especially since I had to be so specific and really think "why is it that this bugs me so much?" I was surprised that I was even able to come up with 20 things and realized that that's a lot of things to be bugged about. I hope to grow from this by learning to overcome these bugs or be able to at least tolerate them more.

  1. Hey Isabella,
I related to your bugs on a very personal level. I agreed with 17/20 of your bugs and kept thinking how you have a similar mindset. A few of your bugs had to with the college culture. It is very disturbing that the culture in college judges how cool someone is based on illegal activities. Good for you for sticking to your morals and living your best life. Keep up the good work!

  2. Hi Isabella!

I am comparable to almost everything you talk about (except for a a couple like Miami traffic for instance since I don't live there). Some of your strongest bugs that I can relate to are the long lines for advisors, future career doubts, personal judgements, interruptions when speaking to someone, and when people are afraid to experience new things from different cultures. What you have said are strong points that often relate to rudeness, being shallow, and especially inconsiderate. Unfortunately, that's how our society is constructed. Hopefully there will be proper reforms in the future to repair the disappointing qualities that a lot of us are fueled on.

  3. Hey Isabella,

I really liked your list of points because I read a few of them that I didn't notice in my day to day life that actually bug me when I get thinking about it. I can definitely relate to the advising lines and the road rage, as those two have bothered me for years. Sadly, a few of your bugs have to do with other people's judgments and it's unfortunate that our culture can be like that. Best of luck to you.
